High: 27° / Low: 16° — Dude Weather Subscribe to Secrets Minneapolis / St. Paul
Yesterday, the Washington Post discovered a local ethanol-based product many MNspeakers have already discovered. The Benson-based Chippawa Valley Ethanol Company is one of several ethanol plants in Minnesota trying new ideas. Also, with little fanfare, biodiesel has been growing in Minnesota. Governor Pawlenty has proposed some big plans for E85 in his second term as well. Rex from Ceylon, MN has some big ideas, too.
MNspeak was better when Rex Oberhelman from Ceylon, MN was here
Ditch Grass Martini, anyone? Shakers is actually one of my favorite vodkas...it has a bit more "dense" or "viscous" mouth feel than most other premium vodkas with a super-subtle sweet undertone, and drinks well on the rocks, no fruit.
It's worth noting that venerable Phillips of Princeton is now producing a "premium" vodka called "UV". While it's not the high level of Shaker's, it is remarkable for its lack of the formaldehyde/kerosene aftertaste that generations of Minnesotans have come to know, and makes a fine base for homemade liquers and mixed cocktails that have a lot of flavors in them (and where a fine expensive vodka would be overwhelmed).
Bob, do you get paid to blog about ethanol, too?
Yes. Unfortunately, not in Shakers.

Kidding aside, I'm paid to communicate, in new media as well as MSM, on topics important to our organization and its mission. Some recent examples: carbon monoxide, healthier homes, and yes, cleaner-burning biofuels.
Bob is so "down" with the new media but unfortunately the lobbyist he works for shot down his idea of putting videos on youtube.
Youtube? What's that?
Heh!
Just as well, after seeing myself on KEYC-TV mumbling on about CO yesterday. Heck, I'm deadlier than the gas. zzzzzzzzzz.
Happy New Year's y'all.
I'm with Geoff: Shakers is good stuff. My favorite vodka. And I enjoy the vodka.
I prefer an alcohol concentration much closer to 5 or 6%. Surly has Furious dialed in, and it's better than any of the old Summit standards.
I'll have to give Furious a try...I tried Bender this summer and didn't love it. If it's truly better than Summit Pale Ale, I'll be thrilled because I've grown to love the SPA.
Excellent...Surly Furious Cans are available @ my neighborhood Likker Barrel. I have my project for tonight all lined up.

Heh! Now we know why you are "not2Sure."
