The first evar?
Yay!
Ideas: Town Hall, 331, Grumpys (either one), and I don't know where else people are hanging out, yet not running into one another.

Tin Cup's on Rice Street, just north of the capital. On Saturday and Sunday around brunch they have live polka music. Also: Don't say the word brunch to them, or they will kick your ass.
Capitol, rather.
That's where I first read Das Kapital.
I'm all for Town Hall. Or Town Talk, but that may not be large enough.

Kwatt, you're never busy.
I don't care where we meet up - Kitty Kat Club was a great venue for the CW party, because it allowed everyone to mingle comfortably. The parking sucks, but where doesn't it...so that might be an idea for a group like this.

Ranty's the new interweb superstar.
As the instigator of the CW party at Kitty Kat -- though not the detail person as Cristina will attest to -- I would suggest something insane like the races at Canterbury, Irish jigging and bocce at the Half Time Rec, or a plain old takeover of the Varsity with MNSpeak bands included (there are many, though many do not post).
all that, and she can swing a hammer like nobody's business.

Max- Tin Cups! God, that brings back memories. I had a buddy who bartended there in college. He dropped out/flunked out, but never told the regulars. They tipped better when they thought they were funding his education.
Ranty- the ugly houses people somehow swooped in and bought that house on my block. They are attempting to make it marginally less ugly for the least amount of money possible. I'm pissed.

Ranty, I need to learn more about how foreclosures work. It seems like kind of a disaster. If you want a duplex, there's one on foreclosure across the street from the little house. The place next door is supposedly up, too, but I don't get how that's possible.
I predict a runny coat of paint and an MLS listing claiming "extensive" exterior work, if it looks like the the other ugly house rehabs.
But why am I blathering about this when we could talk about it at the First Evar MNspeak Gathering?
Weekday. Happy Hour. Minneapolis. Jagermeister. It's on.

I'm totally cool with Psycho Suzi's, but don't any of you people have jobs? Who can be at a bar at 4:30 on a Monday? Of course I assume this would be a multi-hour event, but right now I'm just jealous of everyone who can transport themselves to a bar that early in the day. Sorry I missed Brit's last night, but I was on my couch with a bag of frozen peas on my scraped knee, working off my kickball beer buzz.
Ingrid, I wish I was going out of town. I am going cabin-ward for Saturday and Sunday, but I only got Wednesday off next week, and what with brothers getting married and nonsense later this year, I can't burn up two vacation days for a long weekend that really should just be given to me. I am really pissed off about this.

Of course.
Who can be at a bar at 4:30 on a Monday?
While I'm in the office every weekday, I'm sure a lot of us MNspeakers often work evenings, weekends and holidays. I'll know I'll be working late tommorow on a national influenza campaign (more on that later -- there's a strong local angle), and I have spent a number of weekends either in the office or out on a job somewhere for the Lung.
Plus, I'm "on-call" 24-hrs. a day for folks like Jason, who works some pretty long/odd hours himself. When the House is in session, I know kwatt does some crazy hours, too. No complaints -- it goes with the title -- and if I can get away for an early happy hour meeting with my Mnspeak friends once in a while, all the better.
»» Submitted by »»» justpbob at 11:04 AM on June 26

Completely disagree. If you're able to manage your workload, finances and personal affairs to the degree that you're able to bust an early HH on any given day, you should have a bridge or a freeway or at least a park bench named in your honor.
