Lots of trees down and on houses in St. Anthony Park - right in line with the destruction at Como and the fair grounds. We, thankfully, got our power back at 10:30 am but much of the neighborhood is still out.

I watched the lightning roll in for a good half hour (BTW Pownce? Way better than Twitter). It was 3:30 on the dot when the wind and rain hit. A brief power outage, maybe two minutes, but the immediate neighborhood (SE Como near 35W) looks fine this morning.
Merrriam Park and the parts of southwest St. Paul I've seen are OK but my friends tell me there are branches and trees down all over the East Side and North End, and power is out throughout those areas. One of my friends from the Beaver Lake area just checked in. He's enjoying the air conditioning at the Wabasha Dunn Brothers. His power is out.
Check twincities.com or www.stpaul.gov about where free tree branch pickup is offered in St. Paul. Just get the tree branches, trunks, etc. to your boulevard.

I had to cancel all of my appointments today at work because of no power. There goes a couple hundred bucks. Damn.

just heard from some north end/como friends. at least one house in that neighborhood was damaged to the extent that firefighters had to rescue the people inside
for those of you with friends in areas with no power, it's good night to treat someone to drinks and dinner. . . which is what i am off to do now. . .

How about this evening's storm? I got caught in that one on my bike, basically the minute I started the three hour ride home from Elk River -- and apparently they're either really gunshy, or I should have taken cover somewhere between St. Michael and Rogers.
Big fat movie raindrops here in central Minneapolis. Very fast too. Some pretty neat clouds afterwards. My pictures always come out like shit, or else I'd have pictures of them.

They were a hardy breed, pushing further and further across the wilderness even as they passed by open, fertile fields and plentiful game, looking for that perfect spot, and they eventually populated the area we know today as Downtown San Francisco.

I'm away from my home right now, but when I left this morning we still didn't have power there either (we lost it during the storm very early on Saturday morning). It was creepy coming back to my neighborhood in Eagan last night after being out and about, and seeing blocks and blocks of houses with no lights and only the occasional battery-powered lamp or candle in the window.
That said, even being without power all this time is still better than having a tree fall on your house, or having it set on fire.

Mr. B -- who is ordinarilly pretty calm in stormy weather, for a dog -- woke us up at 3 a.m. Saturday with his cries. We sustained no damage, but did lose power for awhile. Got nothing out of the second wave of storms except a few rumbles of thunder.
Worried about our outdoor exibit at the Fairgounds, part of which had already been assembled. Some co-workers will be checking on it today.

There was something in the PP today, regarding a local resident crying over dead trees and birds from the storm. Yet, I wonder if human life among those narrow-minded folks are not that important you know, even when a natural disaster strikes.

it kind of reminds me of a couple years ago when I first moved here and there was a huge thunderstorm and the streets around loring park were totally flooded. I wonder if it happened over there again?

Foundation here is vibrating, and the big bad dog is cowering in a corner.
Well, this is pretty exciting! I get to pull the old chainsaw out of the garage, see if she'll fire up, and help the neighbors clear the huge tree out of our road, and my driveway, and yard, and where my mailbox used to be.
I haven't had the chance to use this sucker since . . . oh, let's see . . . (add 4, carry the three . . .) . . . . 3am Saturday morning.

Thanks Ranty. Not too bad, a few dishes is all. That's what I get for living in a 100+ year-old house that has pantry shelves on an outside wall and not living like Wayne and keeping them in the sink!
Long night of sucking up water and cleaning up tree debris. But, again, the trees missed the house and the cars. Did I hear another big storm possibly tomorrow? Noooo....
Oh, and my two cats spent about half the storm tap dancing on my head because of the thunder, and the other half in the window watching the lightening...
5 days and no power, bloomington by France and 84th. Honestly, what is Excel doing >.< Living without power, and a family, this is honestly difficult. Just a glimpse of what people in the so-called 3rd world countries have to deal with...

Summer Storm of 2007: yah. i'm 14. and when the storm started i was kinda okay scared because of the wind tho. but i saw a tree fall it scared me have to death. i started crying so did my mom. it was a not fun storm.
