MNspeak.com In The New York Times (Sorta)

Posted July 24, 2005

Has the New York Times ever written so much about a small film that doesn't even exist yet? Over the weekend, a new profile of the Prairie Home Companion movie added more detail to mysterious set. Much to our delight, the story parenthetically notes our t-shirt series: "And because it is a local boy's project, the locals have taken to the filming with calm and equanimity -- give or take a 'Prairie Ho Companion' shirt -- even though Major Hollywood Stars are in downtown St. Paul, a little city that takes pride, not offense, in its general reputation for sleepiness." This should dispell any doubt of Garrison's awareness of the t-shirt line.

I would like to take this opportunity to note that the word parenthetical is under serious semantic investigation in this age in which the em-dash has clearly beaten out the parenthesis as the diversionary punctuation of choice. Someday soon, someone will coin the term em-dashically -- and we'll all laugh (or laugh).
