High: 29° / Low: 13° — Dude Weather Subscribe to Secrets Minneapolis / St. Paul
Is an open thread. Well, it can't be any worse than any of these. Release the electroworms!
There is something so special about a teenage boy with a mustache. It's a rare and wonderous breed. He could be a video gamer, a migrant worker, or perhaps he works with muscle cars. Dreamy.
A lovely way to start the day, max. I was feeling a little down, but not now. Thanx!
"Crystal Meth - Friend or Foe?"
Oh why make us choose?
We are the world
We are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day
So let's start giving
There's a choice we're making........
take a good hard look at the future folks....they are special.
To further open hostilities, I found the following picture of Wil Wheaton linked in the comments section of Max's science fair thread. My science fair exhibit for Friday: "Is Wil Wheaton The Bastard Son of John Lithgow Or What?"

Ha! Max will be suing for peace before 10am.
That sweater is a work of art.
And achick, that kid with the mustache went through puberty about 9 years ago. He has an incredible life ahead of him. A life of gettin' it on.
I totally did that Plants and pop experiment when I was in 7th grade. Mine looked a lot better, tho...I swearz!
First "a wide stance," now, an "enlarged brief!"
Sen. Larry Craig certainly is the gift that just keeps on giving.
I remember assigning my students an ethnography report they were supposed to do on a population inside of the school. They had a month of research, then a presentation and paper due. For the most part, they were absolutely wonderful. These were some excellent pieces of critical thinking and insight.
But then two of my soccer captains entered the room with their poster. One of them just graduated from Colgate, the other from USC film. Not dim bulbs. Their poster title?
"Do Soccer Players Really Get More Pu#@y Than Football Players?"
"Nooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!! You can't put that poster up!!!!!!!!!! AAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!!"
Now THAT'S science!
Probably not any more, poon, Nate, but definately the best weed...
I would think that if you rule out date rape, then yes...soccer players get more pu#@y than football players.
I just want to kiss his moustache.
mb21, care to join me at Al's tonight for happy hour? I'll be there a little before 5 if you wanna stop by!
Yes I would love too! I can't stay long, but I'll definitely stop by for a beer.
Awesome!
Weird...didn't know Malcolm Gladwell was a big fan of Snoop Dogg.
Do you ever see homeless people in the skyways and other heated public places on these colder days and think: "didn't I work with that guy at _________?" It might be just me, I've trialed it elsewhere unsuccessfully.
What's the verdict on Uptown devlopment. Smaller stuff closes or gets demolished unceremoniously, bigger boxes replace them. The Keep Uptown Weird campaign died some time ago, but as old as the McDonald's is, and figuring its significance in that history, it was always lacking some authenticity.
And I haven't been to Bryant-Lake Bowl (except to caucus) in ages. That needs fixing.
Where the hell was Part One of the Ideal Pancreas? I'm going to be lost on this thread all day now since I missed it.
I like puppies. Do you like puppies?
omg, that photobasement site is hilarious.
First "a wide stance," now, an "enlarged brief!"
Sen. Larry Craig certainly is the gift that just keeps on giving.
Unfortunately, it's the prosecutors that need the "enlarged brief."
My contribution this Friday. At the age of 46, this guy decided to learn how to smoke - and it's a pretty damn good read at that. He started, got to a pack a day, then quit, within one month.
SOUP!
OK, this is a soup I've been making for years. It's really simple and there are lots of way you could change it to suit your tastes. Mung dal (many alternative spellings to that) are little yellow split peas that you can get an almost any Asian grocery store. Whole mung beans are where we get bean sprouts from.
Golden Mung Dal Soup
2/3 cup split mung dal
6 cups water
1/2 tsp turmeric
2 Tbsp ghee, butter or olive oil
1/2 Tbsp cumin
1/2 Tbsp coriander
1 tsp salt
2 tsp grated ginger
1 tsp fresh or dried chili
2 Tbsp fresh cilantro
1. Wash the dal by placing in a sieve and running cold water over them. Soak for 1 hour.
2. Combine mung dal, turmeric and a bit of the ghee in large pot and bring to a boil. Watch carefully as it has a tendency to boil over. Reduce the heat and boil for one hour.
3. Slowly dry-roast the cumin and coriander in a small skillet. Grind in a morter and pestle. Add this and the remaining spices to the soup. Beat the soup with a whisk or blend until creamy.
4. Add the remaining ghee to the small skillet over medium heat. Add the chili (if using fresh) and ginger. Brown the ginger. Add the mixture to the soup. Let the soup sit for a 2 minutes. Serve with fresh cilantro.
Nummy. That sounds really good Saloth Sar.
I made french onion last weekend. Took damn near forever, but was worth it.
I love soup.
Has MNspeak always had google sitelinks?
Have I been looking past this or did MNspeak just get its wings?
I showed this to two of my friends the other day and it turns out that they actually know one of the kids in the photos. Hee!
Even though I threw this down over in the donut thread, I'll post it here too because it's a classic: Eddie Izzard on Donuts. Did anyone else see him a few years ago when he was in Minneapolis?
"Hu-du-du-du" - Eddie Izzard doing Achilles vacuuming. (He's downright Hi - larious!)
Happy Hour at Al's in SLP tonight for anyone who's innerested!
These little children and their science projects warm my heart. :)
In 5 years they'll be posting sarcasm from their parent's basements on MNspeak to make up for their awkward early years.
Then, in ten years they'll be loaning money to their parents.
Pawlenty vetoed the Transportation Bill. WCCO even has a picture of the "Pawlenty Veto Pen." He is such a douchebag.
I never saw that coming (sarc)
That Veto Pen should be BLOOD RED. The lives already lost, the lives we will lose, it all on his hands. Once again he puts politics in front of common human decency.
What a disgrace.
Will be at a different happy hour, but have fun!
Oh, and planning not to do yoga tomorrow, but could be interested in Park Tavern b'fast. Or GDC b'fast, but that's pricier.
I'm out for yoga too this week. Have to work at 11:30 and running 4 miles before that... yuck.
Hold on... did you just say Park Tavern does breakfast??? How the hell did I not know this?
Holy crap. Rainy's out on work release.
mb21, yes! Just as greasy and delicious as evening menu, but with eggs!
Wow. The entire Star Trek original series, free online. And Twilight Zone. And Hawaii 5-0.
dodododododo
Or however that Twilight Zone song goes!
kc and cjc: The paint job in your house looks great. You two can come and choose colors for my townhouse any time.
Wow. The entire Star Trek original series, free online. And Twilight Zone. And Hawaii 5-0.
And Max never has to leave his house again.
I probably won't leave either until I've watched every Twilight Zone episode.
Hey, thanks. We chose the living room color based on a print we really like from a friend of mine.
Book 'em Danno!
Max, per our conversation at Alie's...
Oh my God.
We haven't had a good midget clown thread going on here for some time.
Just sayin'
