Describing Dosh

Posted April 30, 2008

Describing what Martin Dosh does and how it sounds is no simple matter. He's been in more than a dozen bands and shared the studio and stage with a dozen more. He draws on a vast field of musical touchstones. Want the full Dosh experience? We've created something of an online museum of Dosh. You'll find nothing like it anywhere else.

This Dosh site is going to be the worst (best?) time killer ever.

Martin is kinda into music, I think.

This is not directly related, but it's one of the best things on you tube (Andrew Bird jamming with puppets.)

I went to a show at the Minnesota Museum of American Art where POS and Dosh played. Dosh was spectacular. Just took ambient noise, random notes from a keyboard and some percussion and turned it into unbelievable trancey danceable music.

Then Kill the Vultures came on and sucked all sorts of arse. But for a while there the beer buzz, rhythms and awesome weather made for a spectacular evening.

Not a fan of KTV.

fair enough...

Alexei's latest project with Big Trouble just put out the best local album of the year though, hands down

We'll have to agree to disagree, Catie. Maybe they were having an off night, but KTV closed the show at MMAA and I had to beat feet within two songs. Haven't checked out Big Trouble though. Will have to do so.

Of course, I'm still waiting for The Debut's new album to drop. Stupid lead singer trying to finish law school. Whatever happened to rock stars being coked-out morons fueling their art with heroin-inspired songwriting?

This is very good news. What a line-up of musicians he'll be playing with! I'm glad to see all the success he's having, Dosh is truly one of the most amazing artists to have their head screwed on so properly. Nice in the extreme. Respectful. Humble. Funny. Clever. True to himself and his values.

Dosh: still places second to Dave King in the local musician ego/schmuckitude sweepstakes

WHA??? Dosh is about as down to earth as they get. What could you possibly be talking about? What has he ever done that has made you think he's got a major ego?
