for those of you with access...hedy is blogging with slightly more frequency of late...and it is good. that is all.

I have been waiting all week for the open thread to announce I have finally begun watching Lost and I will now know what the hell you all are talking about. Now don't spoil it for me! I'm only on season 2.

Who's Hedy again? Is her blog private?
I liked that comic but have no idea who/what Okami and Twilight Princess are. Still, I enjoyed the enthusiasm of the characters, the plot, build-up, and denoument.
tinnie, well then I won't tell you that last night was kinda lame but I cannotfuckingwait until next Thursday!
And I'm ashamed to admit it but I watched Survivor last night. I want to go to the live reunion show, kick the dude who got voted off in the head and steal his wallet.
And the last thing I'll say before I return to the most boring conference in the history of the world (that started yesterday) is that I REALLY wish I was back in Mexico. Which is where I was last week. In fact, a week ago at this moment, I was eating a made to order omelet and drinking coffee at a table overlooking the beach. Sigh.
Ours was direct deposit. It immediately went into our savings account which was difficult given it cost me $65 to fill my gas tank yesterday. Also difficult, listening to my husband do his George Bush impersonation all morning while we were getting ready for work.

If you direct deposit your refund, you'll get it faster. I've conceded that I'm never getting mine because of the last 4 digits, and I paid taxes. So, they'll have to cut me a check. If I do get it, I'm planning on buying something made in China. That'll stimulate the American economy!
joyride, if you paid in, I'm not sure when you'll get yours. If people selected direct deposit for their tax refund they'll get the stimulus direct deposited on their scheduled date, regardless of when they filed.

I paid in, but I wrote in the checking acct routing info so that my stimulation check could be automatically deposited... and it worked!
They just updated the FAQ on that part yesterday, so that's why I couldn't find the information before that. At least they're a week ahead of schedule(or so they say)--I was planning on using that money for a security deposit on an apartment!
I think I'll be in a better position to gang bang the economy in the long run if my credit is cleaned up. Then I'll stimulate that bitch till it can't take no more!
tinnie, well then I won't tell you that last night was kinda lame but I cannotfuckingwait until next Thursday!
Let's talk about LOST without mentioning any details that would ruin it for anybody. I did not think last night was lame at all. There were several times when I let out an audible gasp and, I admit, it got a little spooky watching it alone in the dark.

actually it's kind of cloudy
but it is spring, and love is in the air.
Actually I'm waiting for saturday, because today won't be that great (despite being a friday, I've got some ... unpleasant meetings)
Oh, scrolling back I see I did make an error. I got my stimulus direct deposit today. Actually we got our stimulus direct deposit today. Actually we got our debt defrayment direct deposit today.
I got stimuruhlated the other day. I think most of it will be put into sprucing up my house a little.
Wayne, I want GTA IV like a blowjob, but I think I'm going to wait until the cooler months (if I can maintain my patience). I will not, however, wait for the blowjob. Now if you'll excuse me, I have craigslist ads to peruse.
I've heard the longer you wait for stimulation the better it is.

I got my direct deposit. But the true stimulus came last night whilst drinking Jameson and watching the spectacular hotness that was the women at Max's party.
Have decided to buy a bike with my rebate. Was looking on line yesterday, want to find a folding bike. Need something that will fit in my tiny sports car. Such a feat of engineering. Saw this. Did you know Mork was a bike enthuisiast?

mnblrmkr: I got my stimulus the last week of April. So far, it's sitting in the bank. Most likely will pay for a new front door. Or surgery.
Wait -- what??
I would have spent more $$$ stimulating the local economy last night, except the geriatric rockers tending bar at Nick & Eddie's couldn't make supply keep up with demand.

Did you know Mork was a bike enthuisiast?
Yes, I did. He buys a bike just about every place he travels too. He also gives them away like a street hooker going through withdrawal.
mnblrmkr: I got my stimulus the last week of April. So far, it's sitting in the bank. Most likely will pay for a new front door. Or surgery.
Wait -- what??
Which part isn't clear?
My front door is in terrible condition. As soon as I can hire someone to install it, I want to replace it (anyone have any references? A friend keeps promising to get me the contact info for his cousin's brother-in-law, but that's been over 6 months. I don't think he's interested in the job).
Wait a second, a lot of this talk of "stimulating" seems to be veiled sexual innuendo.
The Internet is no place for veiled sexual innuendo. Let's keep it clean, OK?
»» Submitted by Watch dog at 11:29 AM on May 9
There is nothing veiled about my innuendo. Unless you want me to wear a veil, I mean if you're into that kind of thing.

See, that's exactly what I'm talking about.

Hey Max, sorry I couldn't make it out last night. I haven't been sleeping well and I was dead tired, so I went to bed early last night. Hope y'all had fun.
Anyone interested in happy hour tonight? This venomous cyber-witch needs some brew.
I go if we can drink in SLP. I'm tired of accomodating all you downtown jerks...hehehe!
Yeah! Jerks...
I can't tonight though. Hosting a baby shower tomorrow and have to cook / bake. Save the SLP night for me, pretty please???

I will be playing in an exhibition reenactment of 1860's era baseball tomorrow at the Metrodome prior to the Twins - Red Sox game. 5:20pm sharp. I'll be signing autographs, preferably on female body parts, just prior to the start of the actual game.

Oh, Okay. I had this vision of someone crashing through mnblrmkr's front door, kneecapping him, and racing away.
The door still keeps people out. It's just warped in the corners, so during the winter I get a bit of a draft. The outline of the storm door's window is also permanently sun bleached into it.
I highly doubt you can get a same-day tune-up at any bike store this time of year. maybe if you did it in January, but not now as every weekend warrior realizes that their brakes aren't working like they should or that their chain is sticking between gears.

Thanks! I might head over this weekend. I work in Bloomington so I originally was looking around here. Erik's and Penn Bike's didn't but West Marine did ? A boat place? I thought it was an error but sure enough they do. Maybe people with boats like to have emergency transportation in case they run aground.

camden Joe:
Umm I would try the Alt. Would call them first though.
Go to the library. Check out a book on bike repair. Buy just a few essential tools, and fix it yourself. Working on your bike is a lovely way to spend a Saturday morning.
But the whole idea that you get off a jet that burns fuel like crazy to ride a bicycle home seems more than a bit absurd.
true...but it's considerably less absurd than riding your folding bike to Japan for a concert. Cue Wizard of Oz music.

actually...Ripping the Lurker is a Judas Priest song...not a band. You might have it confused with that band from Austin. And You Will Know us by the Trail of Lurkers.

I thought they were a Judas Priest tribute band...
I ripped a lurker in the Retiring Room yesterday. Nasty.
Also, my feet really stink today. P-U.

I second Behind Bars. But as has been mentioned, it might be tough to get a real quick turnaround at this time. I made the mistake of waiting until last month, and had to wait a week and a half to get my bike back.
Who put a quarter in you guys? Where are all the girls??? Don't make me start typing vagina over and over again.

I also did a solo act doing the music of Elton John. You might remember the act. It was called "And You Can Tell Everyone That 'And You Can Tell Everyone That This is Your Song' is Your Song."
My favorite fake band name is Cream Cheese Driveway Death.
I guess my plans include having booze tonight, but it might involve biking to bars, which I'm always trying to get people to do, but today I'm exhausted and sore from a week of hard yoga.

I'll be heading home soon, so if anyone wants a drink at the 331, look for me there.
I'm going to wallow in depression and despair for about an hour because I wasn't invited to Max's birthday party. Then I'll make myself a drink. My wife is bringing take-out from Brasa and a friend home. We'll eat, then go to Roller Garden for disco night. Tomorrow I have to work on the book I'm supposed to be working on. Sunday is mother's day, and we have family stuff.
Is Speed Racer that documentary about meth addiction?

Why does Cartoonists Community stay on the front page? For that matter, why whenever do I submit a new post is that unfiltered page always topped with "You Get What You Pay For, Edina."
Which always resounds in my head to the melody of "Someone's in the Kitchen with Dinah."
I'd just like to say that the Pot Psychology videos on Jezebel are oddly captivating. Basically, people get high and then offer advice. Hint, hint, Max.
anyone else watching the Twins/Sox game right now? anyone from Boston/New England here? can you agree that baseball on TV just isn't the same with these lame-ass announcers? is there any way I can stream the Rem Dog and Don Orsillo to make my baseball experience a little better? my eyeballs hurt from rolling them at all the "jokes" these douchebags are telling. i can't watch Sox games without Rem Dog and Don. it's just not the same.
Enough already.

I am sad that I am not one of the cool kids?
Actually I am thrilled that I am comfortable enough with
myself that I don't need to be labeled (cool).
I will take having good self esteem and earned confidence
over being Cool any day.
What do you get when you have a smart and self made business man for your father.. a kind and talented artist for your mom......
and siblings that you respect and admire----
take a guess....?????.
the right answer is................
drum roll please...........
If you ARE from the "Cool" crowd than I am sure you have the answer.
If you are not from "Cool" crowd----I still think you have the right answer.
Melinda: Are you referring to the "bacon" comment? If so, it's not really an inside joke as there have been many a thread (daily?) discussing the benefits of bacon. It's more of a frequency thing - if you read MNspeak often, you'll find references to previous threads or conversations from previous threads.
If you don't understand, then why don't you ask what people are talking about rather than what comes off as throwing a fit? I ask -- a lot -- and people have always been willing to tell me.
Things I Did Not Know Before MNspeak:
1). What a hoopty is. Yeah, I can't believe I've gone through life not knowing.
2). Liberals like it like this, Conservatives like it like that.
3). What a happy ending is - another "seriously, I'm this old and just learning this".
4). There are very strong opinions about cake and pizza in this town.
There are so many other things, but I'm off to have more fun in SD - Woo Hoo. It's crappy and cold here. Ugh.
Oh, and to the MNspeaker Moms:
Happy Mommy's Day

Wow. I was actually cooking bacon last night in preparation for some quiches I was making today. I didn't realize that it would cause so much drama. Fantastic.
aliecat--Max is the boss and I respect him.
Cat_- thanks for the info---enjoy South Dakota.the word that was used by hb is really nothing more than-
just a word--
a stupid word that is usually used by people that can't handle the truth:)
mb21--I like bacon and don't really care how it comes.
No fits-no drama-no shouting-just a nice piece of bacon with a lot
of meat and as little fat as possible----
if there is some fat than I can just cut it off myself.
lol
Melinda: I know it's just a word, but the name calling shit doesn't sit well with me.
Shout out to Dougnuts for explaing the HE - yeah, it's amazing I've gotten this far not knowing some of the things I know - especially with bros, dang. I'm making it my goal to practice it on as many boys as possible this year! Now, if only I could find a willing subject... HA!
Alie, the sibs and I are heading to the Top Hat this eve, I'll have a diet coke for ya' - I think I'm the designated driver.
Oh, and btw: We were talking about your grandpa's place - Dixie Bake Shop. Fond memories and a lot of really funny stories - the bros loved the sugar cookies - I don't remember the cookies, just the cakes. And, the old thumbless dude who used to do "now you see it, now you don't" tricks with his thumb - and then when it wasn't really there, it freaked my bro out so bad, he told my dad that he needed to go back down and help the guy look for his thumb. Good times.
Hope ya'll are having a great weekend!
