Who's Hedy again? Is her blog private?

I liked that comic but have no idea who/what Okami and Twilight Princess are. Still, I enjoyed the enthusiasm of the characters, the plot, build-up, and denoument.

tinnie, well then I won't tell you that last night was kinda lame but I cannotfuckingwait until next Thursday!

And I'm ashamed to admit it but I watched Survivor last night. I want to go to the live reunion show, kick the dude who got voted off in the head and steal his wallet.

And the last thing I'll say before I return to the most boring conference in the history of the world (that started yesterday) is that I REALLY wish I was back in Mexico. Which is where I was last week. In fact, a week ago at this moment, I was eating a made to order omelet and drinking coffee at a table overlooking the beach. Sigh.

»» Submitted by »»» aliecat at 8:48 AM on May 9

Stimulus check, or stimulus direct deposit?

Mine should be here, well, today, but I have no idea what method they're using because I owed money(and paid!).
»» Submitted by »»» joyride at 8:49 AM on May 9

It goes by the last digits of your SSN no matter how early you filed, right?
»» Submitted by »»» Bixby at 8:51 AM on May 9

I'm in the very last group to get their stimulus checks. Boo.

I did at least make the "selected comments" list on MinnPost this AM.

»» Submitted by »»» justpbob at 8:52 AM on May 9

Ours was direct deposit. It immediately went into our savings account which was difficult given it cost me $65 to fill my gas tank yesterday. Also difficult, listening to my husband do his George Bush impersonation all morning while we were getting ready for work.
»» Submitted by mb@work at 8:53 AM on May 9

If you direct deposit your refund, you'll get it faster. I've conceded that I'm never getting mine because of the last 4 digits, and I paid taxes. So, they'll have to cut me a check. If I do get it, I'm planning on buying something made in China. That'll stimulate the American economy!
»» Submitted by »»» DouglasG at 8:54 AM on May 9

Eh, found my answer. I'm getting a mailed check. Weeeeeeeeeblah.
»» Submitted by »»» joyride at 8:54 AM on May 9

And then, yesterday, I received a notice from the IRS telling me I owe them $2,397. Apparently I don't know how to declare stock.

Well I'm at work and am trying to keep it clean. Sorry, V.

That said, I probably shouldn't mention someone brought beer to work and we are going to have one after we are done working. Yay!
»» Submitted by jane_ at 1:47 PM on May 9

All we got was doughnuts. (Spelled correctly.)
»» Submitted by »»» DouglasG at 1:49 PM on May 9

Yes, but it was with my ABBA cover band, "The Name of the Name of the Game Game."
»» Submitted by »»» msparber at 1:53 PM on May 9

You're version of "Dancing Queen" was a thing of beauty!
»» Submitted by »»» DouglasG at 2:00 PM on May 9

Thanks! I didn't know how people would like it, since, instead of singing the song, I just put a tiara on my head and did an interpretive dance.
»» Submitted by »»» msparber at 2:03 PM on May 9

I want to start a punk klezmer band and call it the Dillinger Foreskins.
»» Submitted by grote at 2:08 PM on May 9

Is Patty going to play bass? I think one of the 18 bands he plays in broke up so he has some free time.
»» Submitted by Mpls Simpleton at 2:30 PM on May 9

What's not to like? You with a tiara doing an interpretive dance for Dancing Queen -- pure gold!
»» Submitted by »»» DouglasG at 2:31 PM on May 9

I once came up with a list of rejected Care Bear Cousin names and one of them was Inappropriate Penguin. I want to start a band with that same name.
»» Submitted by »»» Bixby at 3:15 PM on May 9

I've said it before, but I would name my band Freight Train. Our first album would be called "Comin' off the Rails..."

Lots and lots of booze.

Whenever I am in need of a Band Name, I head over to Dave Barry's blog. This month he has featured these names:

Plummeting Urine
Doody Danglers
Sex Pest Seals
Cow-Hitting Good Samaritans
The Manure Surfers

I'm already drunk! Still! From last night!

Also: Somebody obviously paid off a big chunk of the bar tab. Thanks, anonymous enabler!
»» Submitted by »»» msparber at 3:28 PM on May 9

My favorite fake band name is Cream Cheese Driveway Death.

I guess my plans include having booze tonight, but it might involve biking to bars, which I'm always trying to get people to do, but today I'm exhausted and sore from a week of hard yoga.

I'll be heading home soon, so if anyone wants a drink at the 331, look for me there.

I'm going to wallow in depression and despair for about an hour because I wasn't invited to Max's birthday party. Then I'll make myself a drink. My wife is bringing take-out from Brasa and a friend home. We'll eat, then go to Roller Garden for disco night. Tomorrow I have to work on the book I'm supposed to be working on. Why does Cartoonists Community stay on the front page? For that matter, why whenever do I submit a new post is that unfiltered page always topped with "You Get What You Pay For, Edina."

Which always resounds in my head to the melody of "Someone's in the Kitchen with Dinah."

»» Submitted by hb at 2:42 PM on May 10

I am sad that I am not one of the cool kids?
Actually I am thrilled that I am comfortable enough with
myself that I don't need to be labeled (cool).

I will take having good self esteem and earned confidence
over being Cool any day.

What do you get when you have a smart and self made business man for your father.. a kind and talented artist for your mom......
and siblings that you respect and admire----
take a guess....?????.
the right answer is................
drum roll please...........
If you ARE from the "Cool" crowd than I am sure you have the answer.
If you are not from "Cool" crowd----I still think you have the right answer.

»» Submitted by »»» aliecat at 3:29 PM on May 10

That seems a little harsh, hb.

Melinda: Are you referring to the "bacon" comment? If so, it's not really an inside joke as there have been many a thread (daily?) discussing the benefits of bacon. It's more of a frequency thing - if you read MNspeak often, you'll find references to previous threads or conversations from previous threads.

If you don't understand, then why don't you ask what people are talking about rather than what comes off as throwing a fit? I ask -- a lot -- and people have always been willing to tell me.

Things I Did Not Know Before MNspeak:
1). What a hoopty is. Yeah, I can't believe I've gone through life not knowing.
2). Liberals like it like this, Conservatives like it like that.
3). What a happy ending is - another "seriously, I'm this old and just learning this".
4). There are very strong opinions about cake and pizza in this town.

There are so many other things, but I'm off to have more fun in SD - Woo Hoo. It's crappy and cold here. Ugh.

Oh, and to the MNspeaker Moms:
Happy Mommy's Day

Cat_- thanks for the info---enjoy South Dakota.the word that was used by hb is really nothing more than-
just a word--
a stupid word that is usually used by people that can't handle the truth:)
mb21--I like bacon and don't really care how it comes.
No fits-no drama-no shouting-just a nice piece of bacon with a lot
of meat and as little fat as possible----
if there is some fat than I can just cut it off myself.

Melinda: I know it's just a word, but the name calling shit doesn't sit well with me.

Shout out to Dougnuts for explaing the HE - yeah, it's amazing I've gotten this far not knowing some of the things I know - especially with bros, dang. I'm making it my goal to practice it on as many boys as possible this year! Now, if only I could find a willing subject... HA!

Alie, the sibs and I are heading to the Top Hat this eve, I'll have a diet coke for ya' - I think I'm the designated driver.

Oh, and btw: We were talking about your grandpa's place - Dixie Bake Shop. Fond memories and a lot of really funny stories - the bros loved the sugar cookies - I don't remember the cookies, just the cakes. And, the old thumbless dude who used to do "now you see it, now you don't" tricks with his thumb - and then when it wasn't really there, it freaked my bro out so bad, he told my dad that he needed to go back down and help the guy look for his thumb. Good times.

Hope ya'll are having a great weekend!
