Melly does some digging and uncovers the truth in this special report.
It's good to know Melly likes the scent of Amelia. I'll sleep alot better knowing that...
My desk looks most like Don Shelby's.
I find it kind of odd that Shelby only gets a cubicle...and a low walled one, at that...
wait, why does jason get such a large space compared to other more important people? jason, are there antics going on in storage closets!?
just for jk, much love JD.
most interesting thing I gleaned from that piece that I hadn't previously realized:
Jason DeRusha has a little butt.
The low-walled cubicle is old-skool newsroom. You don't feel like a journalist if you're sitting behind a door.
Take a walk through the StarTribune newsroom if you ever get a chance. It's like a set from All the President's Men. The only person with a door: Sid.
how do they watch youtube videos and post on mnspeak without any privacy!?
Behind my organized desk is a cabinet FULL of papers-peanut M&M's-
reading glasses-some sort of microwavable lunch from Trader
Joe's-a six pack of Diet Squirt Soda and a stack of phone calls that
I need to return:)
Fun article, Melinda!
My space is a little bigger because I have the honor of being shoved in a corner. So there's that.
obviously they sit in chairs, dummy.
I have been to the WCCO studios frequently, and I can report that they all sit on knelling unpaid interns from local colleges.
DeRusha's intern is from Concordia, I believe. If you are studying broadcasting at St. Kate's, you get to be a chair for one of the anchors. The sports guys get the Brown University interns.
1. To ring slowly and solemnly, especially for a funeral; toll.
2. To give forth a mournful or ominous sound.
That's a lot to ask from an intern.
Ask not for whom the intern knells, max.
The sports guys get the Brown University interns.
um, bob, the pc term is African American College student interns
Yeah, my newsroom has low walls too--they all like to talk and shoot the s***, or if it is busy, commiserate and get help. Sadly, I'm not in the newsroom anymore; I have my own office. I keep meaning to buy a bottle of rye to put in my desk drawer. And I'd sigh loudly and drag it out (+ a smudgy glass) when people come ask me to do dreary tasks.
Oh, and why was Melly so surprised that everyone was willing to have their desk photographed? They are tv journalists; they have their pictures taken for a living!
I was surprised because most people who are "On the air"
don't allow the public to see what their life is like "Off the air"..
The people that I profiled in my blog.. are the real deal "On the air
and Off the air"....
I keep meaning to buy a bottle of rye to put in my desk drawer. And I'd sigh loudly and drag it out (+ a smudgy glass) when people come ask me to do dreary tasks.
Just get an AC unit for your office. They'd forget what they came to ask you to do every time.
Oh, I didn't know that. Makes sense! I enjoyed your article, btw.
mnblrmkr: hee!
My son and I were walking past the WCCO studio on the mall last week. We passed by a desk that had a whole collage of photos dominated by those of the lovely Jeanette Trompeter. I told my son that I bet that was Dennis Douda's desk since I saw him at the same place before using the computer. We miss the pairing of Jeanette and Dennis on the five o'clock news; they made such a nice couple. I did run into Jason DeRusha out on the mall and spoke to him about a storm related "Good Question". My 24 year old son would just love to run into Jeanette Trompeter on the mall; since he has a major crush on her. I told him he's more likely to see her out on the mall during the afternoon.
