High: 27° / Low: 16° — Dude Weather Subscribe to Secrets Minneapolis / St. Paul
I have been out of town again the last few days. I always think I can keep MNspeak up-to-day with tasty fresh links, but it never seems to work that way. So let's use this opportunity to revive something we haven't done in a while: The Completely Open Thread. Think of something you want to talk about -- an idea, an irritation, an under-reported story, anything (as long as it's local) -- and leave it in the comments.
Microsoft sucks.
Discuss.
I want to talk about how incredibly lame the morning news programs in Minneapolis are. Take KARE's "Sunrise" program: to show how you should dress your kids for the weather, they have a QVC-esque shot of two blonde, beaming Nordic children with or without jackets, slinging backpacks over their shoulders next to the weather statistics. How are these people not laughed off television? And grid-iron geography??? Incredible.
Since were talking local news, channel 9 weather woman Janie Peterson sucks!!
The twin cities local news is head and shoulders above 90% of local new casts around the nation. That being said, I loath watching televised news. There is 5 minutes of information crammed into 30 minutes of Girl Scout fundraisers and weather.
Wait! I love the Cobert Report (Repor, It's French Bitch).
The word of the day is great! He's still learning how to read a teleprompter and talk at the same time but hopefully this thing will last. When will Amy Sedaris be on this thing?
two words:
Amy Hockert
Amy Hockert is a hottie, but I think that all local news around here sucks and refuses to cover important local issues.
thanks jibbers, tpt's almanac and I shared a laugh over that.
Yea on that Janie P comment, and what's with all the elitest "Cabin-Cast" weather! All the news people around here seem to talk about their cabins to each other. Tell us the news and leave your status narcissism out of it. Poor common guy.
I love Don Shelby and his opinions, he not only presents the news, he tells me how to think about it.
I remain puzzled by the "News/Sports/Weather" format of local news. Since the advent of the web, I can know everything I need in about 5 minutes rather than suffering 30 through 30 minutes of commercials, teasers and ridiculous fluff stuff (not to mention the obnoxiousness of the talking heads.)
I ain't watched local news in years. I'm proud to say I don't even know who Paul Douglas is or what channel he's on (or is he on???)
I am very confounded when my parents (in their 70s) come to town and insist on watching it. Could it be that it's a legacy lifestyle habit for some?
Amy Hockert is sort of foxy... compared to the Brucatinator. Why can't tv news cover actual local news?
Cabins in Minnesota are hardly elitist. Many families have cabins that have been in the family for generations and are not 8 Bed 3 Bath mansions. Yes...buying lake shore property is out of the reach of many now but it wasn't within the last 20 years. I think a cabin news cast is part of what makes Minnesota different from other areas. Would you rather have everything the same all across the US / World? The homogenation of the world is bad enough lets try to hold on to the few innocuous local differentiations.
Any mnspeak-ers doing NaNoWriMo? This is your last free weekend for a while.
I really liked this article about "cabins" http://www.citypages.com/databank/26/1287/article13554.asp I pass it around as much as I can.
How do I find these people that own these mansion and only use them 2 weeks a year? I would love to lounge around in them the rest of the time and would even mow the lawn! Will I need a tux and Guthrie tickets to meet them. Would a Lexus keychain help? What about some nice Cole Haan shoes?
There have to be some house sitting positions out there?
Speaking of these ultra wealthy people, where would one go in the Twin Cities if one wanted to rub shoulders with a high powered captain of industry or two? Think Texas oil man or a mid to high powered executive from a company which wields influence in Washington at the moment. Obviously it would need to be a public setting.
Would love to chat off the record with someone like that to see what their thoughts are on the future of the US, economic growth, social changes, etc. Not discuss or argue, just ask questions and listen to honest responses.
I sign up for NaNoWriMo every year, and sometimes begin a project but never finish. I like to follow along with other's progress though.
RE: "rub shoulders with a high powered captain of industry or two?"
Assuming you couldn't afford to be there otherwise, get a job bartending or waiting at a golf course or private club where wedding receptions and charity events are held.
In these semi-formal situaitons most people are quite approachable if you use a lttle common sense.
I was going to suggest one of the many fundraisers happening around town at any given time. I wsh I would've saved it; I found a site that lists all the local fundraisers through 2006. Maybe someone can find it.
Mpls people, who you voting for -- Rybak or McLaughlin? I'm undecided, it feels a little like a choice between chicken salad and egg salad.
why did city pages cancel their chipotle get real festival film competition without telling film makers? if you aren't familiar with this, the one minute piece had to feature a chipotle burrito. since they failed to get the word about the cancelation, they are supposedly going to announce a winner. somewhere. but no prize to mexico. no year of chipotle burritos. i think i should get a refund for all of the stunt burritos i used in filming my short.
Good points. I could definitely splurge on some drinks and dinner if I find the right place, but I don't think I'll be joining any country clubs in the near future. Time to dust off the suit perhaps and look up some fund raisers or charity events. With the holidays coming up, I should be set.
What's the status of Old Yeller? I saw them about 4-5 years ago open for the Jayhawks at First Ave. I've been out of touch with the music scene due to new child but is this band still around/together and performing anyhwere?
thanks
Rybak. I was undecided but when it comes to it, I like RT's enthusiasm for the city and want to see what he can do with another term.
No smoking in Minneapolis needs to stay!
But then again, I'm still a little drunk from the boots last night at Gasthofs. We were going to stop in for a drink at Stasiu's, but didn't. What is that place like?
Back to the morning news programs...
Does anyone catch Fox 9's morning news? It is the worst local news program I have ever seen. And that includes western Wisconsin local news.
The two behind the desk cannot read a g*ddamn teleprompter. If the subject matter has something to do with celebrities, kittens, or a shooting in North Minneapolis, they can just about manage it. But give them a top story like Harriet Miers' withdrawl or the FEMA disaster and they stumble on every other word.
Tim S. was a little better--it used to just be Alix stumbling...but now this new down syndrome-looking duchebag is just as bad as Alix. It's totally pathetic.
Peter McLaughlin may have lost me on "flip-flop": http://citypages.com/databank/26/1274/article13246.asp. Did anyone listen to the debate last night? McLaughlin: "At least I match my socks." What kind of platform is that?
Peter! 2004 called, they want their Flip-Flop slam back.
so we're at 2 for rybak; one mclaughlin? i want an informal poll here.
hooha please, down syndrome is not fair. maybe half awake would be less cringe-worthy?
Does anyone thing Republican Randy has a chance in St. Paul?
Oh...I"m voting for Pete. I don't happen to live in SW mpls or a 52 story condo.
Channel 9 is really bad.
I don't live in SW Mpls or a 52 story condo either. But I am interested to hear more because I don't completely agree with Rybak either. Apparently, he wants a Best Buy downtown. But for me, it might come down to the smoking ban issue; putting business interests over public health is not cool.
anyone know where paul douglas gets his rug?
i'm pro-choice on smoking
"putting business interests over public health is not cool"
WTF? How is this a public health issue? In my entire life, I have never been kidnapped and forced to enter a bar to breathe second-hand smoke. Every time I have been in that situation, I have done so of my own volition. To argue that bars need to be smoke free to accomodate anyone who may possibly want to go in one day is akin to OSHA requiring you to keep your home up to industrial saftey standards, because a visitor may put themself at risk by stepping over a pile of magazines on the floor, or tripping over a cord going to an overued outlet.
Does personal responsibility ever come into play anymore, or, should we be allowed to float through life expecting that nothing bad will ever happen, and if it does, the lawyers will fix it?
Just last week I was forced into a bar to grab a drink. I was horrified the entire time, but at least I didn't smell like smoke.
What does smoking have to do with drinking anyway? I can't smoke in a movie theater, or at work, or in the elevator up to my 52 story condo - why should I be able to smoke in a bar. People have survived without smoking in those environments for years, this is just the next step.
That said, I also think it should be a statewide ban, and not just area by area.
gee, i wonder why there's no smoking in movies, work or in your elvator? seems to me the will of the people caused that all to happen. heil moe!
sounds like the next step in the masta' plan for moe is a ban on bars
Let's say I give the non-smoking lobby the health issue thing, based on the fact that those poor restaurant workers are submitted to smoky environments. So let's get this out of the public policy forum -- a lot of vices are criminalized, but you can still pretty much do them if you wanna, like gamble on sports or snort or smoke harder drugs. But can everybody finally agree that non-smokers are less cool than smokers? Smokers are more tolerant, more socially engaging, and less selfish. They stay up later. They can hold their liquor better. Their kids are a little less know-it-all-ish because they've been exposed to less oxygen. They pick role models from the movies or from music that are cooler. They're just generally a better hang. Right?
The drinking that happens at the same bar you go to is exponentially more dangerous to you than the smoking.
NO SMOKING!!! but lemme have that abortion whenever i want
Hmm...What about the workers that work in a Smoke Filled Bar and the Health Effects to them? And I don't want to hear any whining about people choose to work in bars. Workers in all industries have OSHA requirements to protect them even if they don't want to be protected. Construction workers don't have the choice to wear a hard hat and safety glasses or not, they must wear them. I guess we could outfit all workers in a bar with minimal respiratory protection. Of course then they would need physicals every year and yearly training and fit testing for those respirators and the bar would be liable if OSHA stopped by and workers were not wearing thier respirators.
To Phil M - your house is not a public place. A bar is. It also is a business, with employees. OSHA exists for a reason.
Ben - no one pours drinks down your throat in a bar against your will.
I won't even give on the health of the workers front.
You know how many fingers I have ever lost in a Salmon cannery? NONE. It isn't because the government is protecting me and my fingers, it is more because I DON'T WORK IN A SALMON CANNERY.
If you don't want to work in a smoky bar, there is a simple fix that doesn't require legislation and community debate. DON'T WORK THERE.
We certainly have the knowhow to build a master race of humans who all live by the same pre-set health code and live to be 104 years-old. I just don't think that I want to do that. I would much rather be chucked in a box and tossed in the ground at 80 than live a bland, riskless life, and live twenty-four extra years strapped to a bunch of machines and tubes, just to prove that I am better than a smoker.
Well I guess if the owner of the bar was the only employee and the sole proprietor then the OSHA argument would go out the window. OHSA only protects worker not owners.
Phil could you could link to your Salmon Factory OSHA reportable accident data for us? I would like to peruse it.
My original point was this - McLaughlin supported the ban until he began to consider its "economic impact" (quoting MPR). He called it a public health issue. So, according to him, he is weighing business interests with public health.
McLaughlin has bugged me for kowtowing to the bars, even though that is not a huge issue to me (by the way, the issue is not second hand smoke inhaled by patrons, but by staff & servers). McLaughlin has impressed me on his environmental record though. And Rybak, to me, only seems concerned about large fancy development. He seems slick, as well as disconnected from the average citizen's priorities. At this point, jeanfid, I'm undecided.
Is it just me or does Rybak look like Chief McManus and McLaughlin look like Mark Dayton?
In thinking about it thou...(This part may be very digressive and uninterestig so just skip it unless you are interested in the arcane workings of OHSA)
For OSHA to set a rule about exposure to a chemical first it has to find an acceptable exposure where the normal portion of the population would have a minimal chance of ill effects if exposed. To set this limit NIOSH (National Institute of Safety and Health) would have to find these exposure limits through actual testing. NIOSH would then send recommendations to OSHA. Those recommendations would be put together into a proposal that would then have to be put to public review and comment. Then they could potentially enact a new law. Meanwhile in 2135 the law is enacted minutes before the Vogons demolish the earth to make way for an intersteller bypass.
Hmm let's see... scientific research says alcohol is just as dangerous as tobacco: 4% of the global burden of disease is attributable to alcohol, compared with 4.1% to tobacco and 4.4% to high blood pressure. Add drunken driving (whether its you or the millions of other people who do it every night) into the mix, and its a bit more deadly. Not steal a Janeane Garofalo bit, but someone who just smoked a cigarette and got in their car isn't much of a hazard. Drinking on the other hand...
Since the smoking ban went into effect, many bar employees have lost their jobs and many others have suffered a substantial loss of income. They must be eternally grateful for the heartfelt patronage of the smoking advocates.
Sarcasm aside, I am a reformed chain smoker, and having spent last weekend in hazy Chicago bars, I am selfishly thankful for the smoking ban. However, the worker's health rationale has always struck me as a cloak of compassion for the selfish preference of people who spend very little time in bars. Most bar employees oppose the smoking ban. Who are we to say what's best for them?
how about the deuces i've been spurtin' out all mornin' - woooheee!
Govt is basically here to tell us what is good for us and what we can and cannot do. Think...hmm Speed limits, liquor laws, to infinity and beyond!
uh, Ben, I think I'm wasting everyone's time by pointing out that drinking/driving is against the law.
No one slams the newspaper for having comics and Suduku. So why can't the TV have a section on our website for Halloween pet costumes?? It's one of the most popular pages... which perhaps says more about the consumers of news than the provider. And it's funny!
We do our best... obviously we can do better. It's always difficult to balance the "important" with the "interesting" and the "illuminating." We try to do some of each, but there are only so many things you can cram into a 15 minute news hole. I've worked in many places-- Twin Cities local news viewers get a much higher quality of serious news than anywhere I've been before. For what that's worth.
nor is there second-hand intoxication . . . (or is there)
Enough with the OSHA and the poor exposed servers. Can we get a psychological handle on the anti-smoking hysteria? It's got something to do with anti-corporatism, doesn't? People are pissed about the invisible hand of lobbyism and the profiteering that goes on at Evil Empire type businesses like RJ Reynolds. It makes anti-smokers seem like muckracking public advocates who are more consciencious. The tobacco fat cats are straw men for all the pent up frustration people have towards government and big business. That's it, right? And it's an easy thing, if you're a politician, or employed by anyone, really, to get behind. It's not controversial to pick on smokers. Because aren't their much more harmful environmental protections that The People haven't pushed for?
Either it's my anti-corporation, populist theory, or non-smokers are passing laws because of the nuisance value of second hand smoke, and just justifying it by sticking up for those poor restaurant workers. (Most of whom smoke.)
my deuces have been purty toxic all day!
I can see at least 4 different future city pages stories in this thread.
I hope we get a citation.
Steve Marsh for Mayor!
Mclaughlin, he seems to actually care that the crime rate is up 25%.
Chicago's smoking ban starts in 2006
Yes, Steve, I believe you've got it.
Well, when we start talking about crime and mayoral cadidates, it's all about scare tatics and quick PR fixes (hiring more officers) that will have minimal impact.
Seriously people, we have an open forum and you want to talk about the smoking ban? Hey everyone, spring called, it wanted it's open forum back.
Here's McLauglin's quote from the Downtown Journal: "The murder rate is up 44 percent because Mayor Rybaks priorities are wrong."
What a load of scare-tactic crap, any way you cut it. That sort of thing really rubs me the wrong way.
2003 called, it wants its "____ called, it wants its ____ back" back.
What kind of nickname is Scooter?
well, its up that high and Rybak doesnt have an answer, so I just assume get someone who cares.
not saying mcl could do a better job tho
I am also a former chain smoker and was against the ban when it was first proposed in St. Paul. But you know what? I like it! I don't want to reek of smoke unless I'm actually smoking. So there.
As for the crime rate, in the debate last night, the only thing that McLaughlin could give in terms of specifics of what he would do differently than Rybak was ... the same thing, but a year ago.
excellent, snarky comments, much better then long winded diatribes about smoking bans. D, Minnesota called, it wants its passive aggresive back.
the other day i opened a jar of wheat germ and noticed a warning on the label that said: "Contains wheat ingredients." are we a bunch of morons or what?
Um, I'm sure that someone is calling, looking for "snarky" back. Okay, I've used it myself - but we need a new word here, people!
Okay ... G. Gordon Liddy, I. Lewis Libby ... coincidence?????
Derusha, are you referring to Scooter Libby? Someone was just doing a stand-up piece on that. Was it Leno? I had a school-mate in grade school we called Scooter. He was nuts, and I'm sure he is in prison now.
Jason: First, you are awesome for entering in the media discussion and posting on this site. Second, the pet slide show is super funny. No one's knocking that. I kind of want a little city dog now.
But third, setting aside the bits of entertainment, the local news is still seriously flawed, especially the lame morning shows. Can we possibly have a week where we don't have to hear about "sex offenders"? Or an interview with the Minnesota sister of someone who lived in the devestating path of Hurricane Wilma?
Indeed, spaceman. I imagine anyone named Scooter is destined to end up in prison at some point.
Taylor- I totally agree with you about the morning shows. It's tough. Every time I do a serious story, I hear nothing about it. Every time I do a silly story, I get tons of e-mail. It's very difficult to do "news" for a mass market. I consider myself a young person (30). If I went news with a particular slant or bent.. I know where to find it. If I went ultra-local stuff, I come here. It's hard to know what kind of stories to put on TV that will get the young, educated professional to come and watch.
Tonight, I'm trying to do a story on the Oak Street Cinema's 24-hour-film festival. They've given local filmmakers 24 hours to put together a horror movie-- due tonight at ten. That's a story that has great visuals, and tells a story from the local arts scene. I fight for the kinds of stories that don't appear anywhere else on TV...
I am an American Lung Associaton Lobbyist. Both of my parents died of smoking related illnesses. I currently have lung cancer.
But I hate the smoking ban.
Uggh how lame are those "Minnesota Connection" segments? I think amy hockert is probably the hottest news anchor 'round here.
is no one going to get pissed off with me about the burrito ban? did no one else enter a film in the contest?
Ive got some local news personality gossip for everyone. A drunken Scott Goldberg at Elsies during what I thought was a rousing rendition of Michael Jacksons Rock With You verbally attacked me. This was probably a few months ago but I am still unable to sing Karaoke without thinking of KARE 11 stooge Scott Goldberg . When I called him out as being that guy from the special reports he seemed to sober up pretty fast.
Good times
mmmmmm love the taco belles
haha; SG looks like he is 4 feet tall.
Anyone have a link or details about the film contest? Nothing @ mnfilmarts. I am sooo out of the loop lately.
And jderusha: the only thing we really want to know what you think of with respect to the news is whether you think CCO has anybody hotter than Amy or not.
You must tell us now. :-)
looks like you are right Derusha
aaaahhh, Anna, I sure wish you wouldn't have posted that link. That whole Strib "Land Rush" feature is making me seriously depressed.
One of the good things about the indictment is that the country may finally get an answer to one of the closely guarded national secrets: what does the I in I. Lewis Libby stand for.
Apparently no one knows.
everything about the film contest seems to be gone. i think it was originally on the city pages documentary film festival site. had a link to last year's documentaries, because the rules were that you had to reference one of last year's films, plus feature a burrito in the film. but it couldn't take place at a chipotle. entries were due last week. you could drop your entry off at city pages, or mail it in.
ok so i've go 2 for mclaughlin, 2 for ryback, and spaceman's undecided. are there really only this few people who actually live in minneapolis that plan to vote??
i listened to the debate again today over the noon hour. just listening to the voices, i think mclaughlin has nothing to say. he's full of pat answers and jargon. he doesn't directly answer questions. i really hate it when candidates don't directly answer questions and resort to fluffing themselves up. smoking ban, innercity businesses (smaller retail) issues, property taxes for businesses--mclaughlin seems only be able to definitively speak about crime. ryback doesn't have all the answers, but at this point he seems to be able to articulate his stance and how he will address issues.
one's a populist, the other is a politician. are they that similar or not?
Elliot: randy kelly is done, imho.
wooo-heee! my brown star is on fire taday! hot damn, i need to write in a story to one of my favorite sites - tell em' all about my knarly, toxic fumes rising from the bowl of hell.
i no longer live downtown, but if i could vote for Mayor i would most definitely vote for Rybak again. no he's not perfect, but he's better than Pete
I change my vote to Kristin Stinar for hottest news person.
My wife won't allow me to comment on whether anyone is as hot as Amy Hockert. Amy is really cool, though.
But I can add some other insight to this discussion: Scott Goldberg is about 4 feet tall. And I really wish I had seen him hammered!
Kristin Stinar is also someone I can't confirm or deny as being hot. But she is really intense -- a true journalist.
And the Oak Street screening is at 7:30pm Monday. The rules: Can't show death onscreen; must be period piece; must have original soundtrack; feature "eating" scene; shot on a set; less than 5 minutes. The story at ten. And in the video viewer on my blog. Back to work!
Amy is doing really well on wanderlist for favorite reporters but strangely Alix Kendal is the top local talent for sexiest reporters.
The internet remains an interesting place. Footage at 10.
First, New Topic:
Where the hell is Tim Sherno?
Seriously, I have a ton of people stopping by my blog looking for him or even, and this is true, blaming me for his quitting.
Where the heck is he?
Second, Scooter? It was Phil Rizzuto's nickname when he played Shortstop for the New York Yankees. That was...a VERY long time ago.
I would think if DeRusha's wife would let him voice an opinion, he would have to say Jeanette Trompeter is the hottest anchor at 'CCO. Hottie hot hot.
Melissa: Jeanette is in the room right now. I'll make sure she knows your opinion! And she is as nice as she is lovely. I'm sure my wife will be OK with that opinion!
Jason: stop trying to make me jealous. But seriously, for those who aren't familiar with Jeanette (she's been in Mpls for only 6 months or so and does the 5:00 news when a lot of people aren't home yet) she's very personable on the air, but professional. Maybe some people don't like it, but I think local anchors need to show some personality in their broadcasts or people will think that station is really boring and they won't watch. (People have a lot of choices in Mpls/St Paul for local news, and part of the reason why they pick one station over another is the same reason they watch anything else on TV: they like the people on the show.) But Jeanette seems to have a good sense of where the line is between being a "personality" and a journalist. I've noticed that sometimes when the talk on the air starts to degrade towards banter (which it does occasionally) she sort of withdraws from it and doesn't contribute much.
She has contributed A LOT however, to raising thousands and thousands of dollars for charities in Des Moines where she was before she came here, so as far as local news anchors go, I think we're lucky somebody at 'CCO was smart enough to get her to come here.
Damn you people are good. 100 comments on an open thread?
Next t-shirt: "I fucked Amy Hockert."
oh my.
I can't stand these two FLAKES. Pat Evans tries to do the whole soft-spoken Minnesota friendly thing, but I don't buy it, it makes me sick in the mornings. Roxane Battles is just one annoying fake psuedo-starlight. If Kare11 management is reading, drop those two flakes and show more ofEric Perkins and Belinda Jenson, they both have chemistry that is rare.

Does anybody else find it strange that they "cover" the news?
And are brazen enough to brag about it besides!
DUDE - Christoph, are you kidding? Belinda Jensen? Ish. I used to call the weatherline every morning for years and would cringe when she was the reporter on any given day - she always sounded like she was either a) heinously pompous; or b) sucking on something. The combination of her awkward pauses to suck something and the pre-report roto-rooter jingle was enough to make a girl stop calling.
Dave: Ol' Yeller just played at the Uptown Bar 2 weekends ago. Here is their Myspace profile. The ever-charming drummer is a friend of mine from high school.
That's because Belinda was sucking on something. I would happily embelish, but honestly, I just don't kiss and tell, it's rude. (this is an innuendo)
"I fucked Amy Hockert"? "Belinda was sucking on something"? I feel like I just stumbled into the 8th grade boys' bathroom.
Yeah, I guess if you cant be juvenile on the internet where can you be?
Of what age and background is Ms. Trompeter? I havent watched CCO news in over a year.
Ya, it's a tight race between Amy Hockert, Terri Gruca, Kristen Stinar and a couple of other girls at CCO, but Alix Kendal takes the cake. Alix - that is so sexy!
I wish I were Tim Sherno.
i can't stand the way i smell when i get back from the MOA. do they have some room with a giant vat of the stink/scent equivalent to muzak that they pump through the entire ventilation system?
jeanette trompeter is kinda of a big mushy martha stewart, when I look at her I think of my mom .....ick.....there is no way she is hot! Belinda Jensen and Amy Hockert, now you're talking hot!!!
Okay, I'm throwing a tomato at myself for this, but somebody has to say it:
BELINDA JENSEN IS NOT A CELEBRITY!
(and she isn't attractive either).
who cares, she don't need to be a celeb, have you seen her from the rear!!!
Did anyone else see that llama in Uptown Sunday morning? Near Hennepin and 25th...by the old Shelly's?
Oh sure, the one weekend I leave town a llama shows up. Just my luck.
so Gérard Depardieu says he's making his last film. one more narssistic actor who thinks we care.
sinead o'connor doing reggae? Sucks big time! I thought she was gone for good. I must have been dreaming.
Scott Goldberg drunk, yeah right, and I am the next pope. I don't believe that for a second. Seems nice enough though, 4 feet tall or not.
Amy Hockert? Yeah, man! I saw her on the street once in person, and she's better-looking in person. (I'd do her, but that puts her on a LONG list.) Belinda Jensen is too skinny and self-important, and I don't see why she's so damn popular. (People here must have low standards.) And let me add two faces I wouldn't EVER want to see first thing in the morning -- Esme Murphy and Cyndy Brucato. UGH!
Belinda Jensen has the fattest ass on TV
I think that wcco 4 does the best job in covering the news and sports. Btw no knocking Jeanette and Terri Gruca is the BEST!! Keep it up CCO.
I like most of the anchors and reporters on WCCO. Amelia and Jeanette are the prettiest anchors on tv. The only reporter to really get under the skin is Esme Murphy (although her days of shoving microphones in your face are over). What is the deal with her fake eyebrows anyway--are they black magic marker or Kingsford briquettes? It's real distracting--she can be doing the most legitimate report, but all you notice are the eyebrows. Stick to covering the fires, floods, crimes and strikes--she'll never be an anchor.
Belinda always mentions how much she likes hot and hunid weather.
Give me fall!!
i'm sick and tired of the opinionated ch 4 and 11 weather forecasters telling how great the 80's and 90's for temps- not everyone likes 80-90's. i'm sick and tired of hot, humid summers and global warming- away with it and bring fall/winter- cold weather rules!!
Yeah, I know - Belinda Jensen and Paul Douglas are always excited when it`s gonna be humid and 85-100 degrees outside.
Not everybody likes to bake outside like a potato!
Thank goodness for spring, air conditioning, fall and winter.
Here`s to an early snowfall and winter - Hoooray!!!!!
I like KSTP news better anyhow!! lol
ch 9 is also good- no opinionated weather forecast- janie is awesome as well- just gives the forecast unlike ch 4 and 11. time for an early fall- crisp, cool mornings. no more 80's-90's.
if you'd seen Belinda Jensen & Paul Douglas in their bikinis, you'd know why they are so happy.
Amy Hockert in a bikini - that would make me hot & I don`t mean the weather - whew!!!!
Did she ever get married????
Mike Fairbourne is my favorite weather person from WCCO 4.
I grew up watching him back when Bud Kraeling and Dr. Walt Lyons were still on. They were never opinionated. They just said the forecast like it is!
So, Belinda Jensen is pregnant again? Terrific. Perhaps she will leave the weather game, permanently, and then we can finally get a decent forecast?
Goodbye, BELL.
