High: 27° / Low: 16° — Dude Weather Subscribe to Secrets Minneapolis / St. Paul
While WCCO aired a segment downplaying the Vikings sex cruise story, KSTP countered with Kristin Stinar digging through player's trash and scoring the guest list of talent flown in for the occasion. She then confronts one of the entertainers on the list who admits that some of the girls do extracurricular activities for about $1,500. Kristin then tracked down some of the players involved for some choice quotes in their own defense such as, "That's a lie. No lady on this list told you that. No woman would say, 'Yeah, I'm a prostitute'."
ayana b/w bryant mckinnie shuffling to explain himself is the most hilarious thing i've heard in months. omg omg omg that's hilarious.
this is huge for stinar too. live from the dumpster! maybe tv news isn't so bad after all...
How will Amy Hockert respond? This really puts Stinar in the lead.
This could be a tough one. Currently on my Minneapolis St Paul News All Stars list, Hockert is #1 and Stinar is duece.
Ok Stinar loses a few points for that blue/aqua purse she has with her in Atlanta during the piece.
I also don't think we really need the graphic of the dictionary and acting as if the definition of courtesan is *gasp* a surprise or evidence. Did anyone else catch the reference to the hooker saying she didn't make the trip to MN because she was doing something that weekend with Atlanta Falcons players? omai.
But on the whole I think it was a well-produced piece of trashy journalism.
oh, kristin, how do you sleep at night knowing that you got in a dumpster and dug through football players' refuse?
...and can i come over to give you a backrub?
Kristin will get dirty when she has to.
Amy must be fuming...
Daunte is on his way to Phoenix.
I'm sure glad Stinar got to the bottom of that one (and I don't just mean the dumpster). I can rest easy at night knowing that if there is a simple question, channel 5 will get me simple answers. As I watch my gas and property tax rates go through the roof, I am glad to have learned that prostitutes have sex for money, and that just like the rest of us, after parties, Vikings players throw things away. The decay of society at the hands of politicians left blameless can wait. I hope tomorrow they have a story on how pillows make sleeping easier, or, better yet, on how pudding tastes good to people who like pudding.
"That's a lie. No lady on this list told you that. No woman would say, 'Yeah, I'm a prostitute'."
*ahem* First there's that old yarn about ladies. But don't you think it's preferable to sell your story than other products in your arsenal? *cough*
Dumb chicks are NOT hot. Kristin Stinar is seriously Anne Hutchinson hot. And for all your raging Viagra freaks on this board, I don't mean that as a compliment.
Um, well, I used to live with a prostitute many, many years ago, and if you called her that to her face, she'd have decked you. (And if you stayed down, she'd go through your pockets checking for cash and/or drugs.)
It's pretty weird to find a sex worker who would admit to as much on camera. But you don't seem to be saying that the dancer contacted admitted as much about herself, just that she said that about the other dancers.
That makes perfect sense to me. Dancers who don't turn tricks tend to hate dancers who do. And weirdly enough, prostitutes often think dancers are perverts.
were you calling stinar dumb?
Yes. Yes I was.
You argue until you are blue in the fingers that she isn't, and that news managment forced her to do the story, but, in the end of the day, she is the one whose face is on it. Smart reporters stand up for quality and their own reputations. Dumb reporters, like prostitutes, will do anything for the almighty dollar. In my mind, Kristin Stinar is no more than a stupid whore.
well, i've met the woman and can personally relate to her story off the camera. she is anything but dumb.
Jibbers-
That is great. For the 99 percent of us who don't know her personally, it isn't too hard to jump to the conclusion that she has very little clue what the hell is going on.
Dude, you don't know shit about the world of TV news. If you're basing your opinion of a reporter's intelligence on one sweeps-month story, you're pissing up a rope. It would be easy to surmise from your posts on this page that you are a mouth-breathing cretin, but I'm sure none of us are thinking that.
Kristin has the guts to find the evidence linking the IDIOT Vikings to their IDIOTIC behavior.
She AND Anne Hutchinson can share my hot tub ANYTIME.
P.S. To KMSP: College hockey players having beers is NOT a scandal.
If anyone wants to 'dig deeper' Bryant McKinnie has ties to some rapper who is a huge U of Florida fan, and is the 'missing link' to the southern hooker pipeline.
McKinnie is the blowhole who is behind this with Smoot.
My point, no matter how anyone chooses to accept it is, there was a time when reporters had ethics and concern for quality. While the horny bastards on this site think quality in broadcasts can be judged by sweater tightness, some of us think there is more to television news than a pretty face telling me things I already knew. I already knew that hookers have sex for money. I already knew that after parties garbage is thrown away. You all seem to think that Kristin Stinar is the second-coming of Walter Cronkite for her ability to get to the bottom of this story. She got to the bottom of nothing. and has never impressed me once, in her entire career here. I am truly sorry if my opinion bothers you this much.
Dude, loosen up - it's sweeps month!
Put on your best cardigan and go with the flow. my man!
So, quality can be overlooked during sweeps? Fine. What is the excuse the other 10 months of the year?
Dude, the days of Dave Moore are over, unfortunately. Your beef is not necessarily with the reporters, but with the news directors who push for more sensational stories, and with corporate owners (Viacom, Gannett, NewsCorp, etc.) who want their stations to serve as corporate ATMs, and who manage those newsrooms from afar without a clue of what local audiences want to see and how they want it presented. That has turned a once-great news market into another sad hotbed of "if it bleeds, it leads" sensationalism.
The Stinar story was more than just digging up dildos and Crystal bottles -- the "news hook" was the list of stripper/hooker names and flight times, written on Vikings notebook paper, no less. Maybe they're playing up the sex angle too much, but that list could actually lead investigators to some of the, ahem, party guests who could give them information on who was responsible for what that night on the lake. To me, that's worth something. Without that nugget, I'd agree that this would be little more than a trash story, no pun intended. But that list justifies the means by which it was found, and promoted by KSTP.
I agree that corporate greed is to blame for lowering standards, but I think talent is also to blame. When you agree to do fluff crap to keep the advertisers happy, or sensational pieces that drag in the lowest common denominators, you are complicit in the act of dumbing down America. It is people like Stinar who don't give a damn about the industry who are to blame for its demise. She is not personally responsible for the death of television journalism, but she is a perfect example of where we are going wrong.
I glad too see this interest site, I tell my friends about it! They like sites like that: site
Stinar is NOT hot. Trust me. I've seen her up close on a very good number of occasions. She kinda looks like a catchers' mitt these days, actually. She's got crow's feet and smile lines that could hold a three-day rain.
